Cashmere Care Instruction

Cashmere Care Instruction:

Washing:

We suggest you refer to the care label of the clothing before washing. Hand washing is recommended to maintain the fibers of the cashmere at its best condition over time, but machine- washing and dry- cleaning is also options. If you decide to hand-wash your clothing follow below steps.

Cashmere Hand Washing Technique:

  1. Fill your basin with 30C, or colder water, turn your clothing inside out and use cashmere shampoo or mild detergent.
  2. Soak your cashmere in the water and gently squeeze 10 to 15 minutes, before rinsing thoroughly and carefully. DO NOT WRING or it could stretch the delicate garment.
  3. After rinsing, gently fold it into a ball to get the excess water, and lay the damp clothing flat on a towel to dry. To fasten the drying process, you may roll the cashmere with the towel and gently press to remove the excess water.
  4. Straighten the clothing back to original shape after unrolling. Lay it flat to air dry and away from heat and direct sunlight. DO NOT TUMBLE DRY or HANG your cashmere to dry.

 Machine Washing:

Cashmere is machine washable but you have to be more careful.

  1. Before putting your cashmere clothing in the washing machine, place them in Mesh Bag to protect them from friction.
  2. Select the Delicate cycle on your washing machine, and make sure the water temperature is cold and the spin setup is on low.
  3. Add cashmere shampoo according to the load size.
  4. Most importantly, do not USE DRIER or HANG your wet cashmere to dry. Instead, lay them flat in the natural shape on a drying rack or clean tower. If you’d like it to dry faster you may roll the cashmere with the towel and gently press to remove the excess water.
  5. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources as it will shrink or damage your cashmere or wool.

Ironing: We suggest you use steam iron to iron out your cashmere apparel. Make sure the surface of the steam iron is clean and your clothing is dry. Steam the product from the inside out.

Storing: DO NOT HANG your cashmere clothing, it will most likely become misshapen due to the weight of sweater pulling it down. Store your cashmere in a cotton bag with zippers which will allow the cashmere to breathe. Keep cedar chips nearby to prevent moths but keep them away from the material.

If you are putting your cashmere away for the summer, make sure it is clean and keep it in an airtight container with cedar chips, which helps protect the clothing from moths and mustiness.

Piling: Pilling is normal for any natural fiber. Since cashmere fibers are very light and delicate, it will inevitably pill over time. We recommend you to de-pill your cashmere garment before washing it. We recommend that you use a battery-operated de-fuzzer “fabric shaver”. Do not yank pills with your fingers, as this will damage the yarn

Moths: Cashmere can attract moths. Before storing for long periods of time, ensure that the clothing is clean and washed. Store your garment in a cotton bag that closes with zippers, as this will allow it to breathe. We suggest to clean your wardrobe often, and use anti-moth products such as cedar bags (replace them regularly) when storing your garment.

If you discover moths, remove the cashmere and deep clean your wardrobe or cupboard thoroughly. Then freeze the cashmere for a day or overnight as this will kill any moths or moth larvae. You can then defrost and dry-clean your cashmere.
