At Mongolian Gallery, supporting women-led small businesses isn’t just part of our business model — it’s our foundation.

This AAPI Heritage Month, we’re proud to celebrate not only our cultural roots but also the incredible women artisans, makers, and entrepreneurs whose work defines our collection. From hand-combed cashmere clothing to hand-stitched leather accessories, every piece in our shop carries the story of a woman building something of her own, often against odds.

🌸 The Power of Women in Small Business

In the U.S., women-led businesses make up nearly 40% of small businesses, yet they continue to face unequal access to funding, visibility, and long-term support. In Mongolia—where our roots lie—women own 64% of micro and small enterprises and comprise most of the textile and artisan workforce. In fact, approximately 90% of staff in Mongolia’s cashmere and wool production are women (UNDP).

Despite their essential contributions, many still lack access to financial assistance and the opportunity to grow beyond local markets.

As women-owned businesses ourselves, we’ve experienced these barriers firsthand. That’s why, while international agencies and local banks continue working towards addressing financing barriers, our focus has been more immediate: to build and provide a platform that connects these women-led brands to global audiences, helping them grow, gain feedback, and raise awareness through community and opportunity. 

When you support businesses like ours, it creates a ripple effect- not only sustaining livelihoods but also validating the work and vision of these artisans, helping them thrive beyond borders. 

Our customers play a vital role in this ecosystem. Every purchase directly supports a supply chain designed to reinvest back into the women behind the work, its uplifting makers, preserving cultural heritage through international, conscious choices.

For us, AAPI Heritage Month is both a celebration and a reminder. As a business founded by a first-generation Mongolian immigrant, our mission is deeply personal. We aim to preserve the craftsmanship, stories, and soul of Mongolian culture — and celebrate and share them with the world in a way that uplifts the makers and women behind each product.
